Reading Your Results
How to interpret coverage metrics and key summaries.
Capital Coverage Metrics
When viewing the Interest vs Withdrawals chart, you’ll see a summary at the top:
Total Funding Pool (e.g., $1.5M)
- Your starting savings + all contributions over your lifetime
- Total resources available
Capital Buffer (e.g., $854K)
- How much capital remains after withdrawals and interest
- The cushion you have left
Funding Gap (e.g., $465K)
- Shortfall between interest earned and withdrawals needed
- Amount you’re drawing from capital
Years of Coverage (e.g., 35.6 yrs)
- How many years your capital will last at the current withdrawal rate
- Compare this to your remaining lifespan
Interpreting “Capital lasts through age X”
If the summary says “Capital lasts through age 90” and your life expectancy is 90, you’re on track.
If it says “Capital depleted at age 82” but you plan to live to 90, consider:
- Increasing contributions during working years
- Reducing withdrawals in retirement
- Adjusting your retirement age
- Using more conservative interest assumptions
